Teens
Adolescence is a challenging stage for anyone. Teens dealing with anxiety, irritability, low mood, school pressure, friendship problems, or conflict at home can feel like no one understands them.
I’ve worked with young people in many settings, from schools to juvenile hall, so not much surprises me. I take an honest approach that respects a young person’s autonomy, and teens can expect that I’ll hear them out and listen to what they want from therapy.
While most of my work happens in my office, some teens open up more while doing something active, like walking or playing catch. I offer this “walk and talk” therapy case by case, so ask about it if you’re interested.
For Parents
I usually meet with parents first to hear what’s going on. Some families prefer that their teen meet with me first to decide if we’re a good fit, and that’s okay too. Just let me know. Either way, we’ll discuss how often we check in along the way.
What your teen tells me stays between us, unless I’m concerned about their safety or someone else’s. That privacy is what lets teens open up, and I’ll always encourage them to bring you into important conversations.
Young adults
I also work with young adults navigating college, first jobs, relationships, and figuring out who they are apart from their families.
